CONSIGNMENT PROCESS OUTLINE
Here at Rock Island Auction Company we make consignment a simple and straight forward process. We are often asked if we would be interested in marketing a single item for a client and other times if we can handle collections of over 1,000 pieces. With our staff and experience there is no collection too large or small.
STEP ONE (EVALUATION)
Typically the best way to begin is with a pre-auction evaluation of the items you are interested in consigning. This can be done with a short telephone conversation in some cases. Some items on the other hand will require a visual review. If you are located near us you can always set up an appointment to bring items in. On the other hand if you are not within driving distance we can begin with a few photos. In the event that the collection is more than just a few items we can review a detailed inventory list to avoid the hassle of taking hundreds of photos.
Our main goal in this first step is to give you an idea of what we feel we can do for you. At the conclusion of this step we can go over our selling commission with you as well as the other aspects of our consignor agreement. If you are interested in moving forward with the consignment process after going over this information we can move on to getting the items here.
STEP TWO (TRANSPORT)
We will work with you to make transporting items to our facility as hassle free as possible. Typically when dealing with a small number of firearms shipping will be the most efficient method.
When shipping a modern firearm it is important to remember that you do not need an FFL (Federal Firearms License) to ship firearms. The shipper is not required to have a license and you do not need to go through a dealer to ship. It is simply a matter of packing the item or items up securely and taking them to the shipping company of your choice. If the shipping company asks you for our FFL we can forward a copy to you.
STEP THREE (AUCTION)
When the items have arrived at our facility our auction production team will take over. After the items are verified and accounted for our specialists will review each piece and decide which of our two different kinds of auctions will bring it the most money. Once this is decided each item will be entered in that auction so that their descriptions and photos can be completed.
STEP FOUR (PAYMENT)
Checks are cut and sent out thirty-five calendar days after the completion of sale.
