Searching the Online Catalog:
When you open up the online catalog, you will see many options for your search criteria. You can choose as little or as many criteria as you wish, however we recommend that you start your search more broadly unless you know exactly what lots you are looking for.
• Keywords
The keyword search field is the most useful search tool in the online catalog. In these examples I will use the words civil war.
In order to search for auction items containing any of your terms, use the drop list next to the keyword field with the choice 'Any of these words' That will find any item that has either the word civil or the word war in any database field.
If you change the keyword drop list to 'All of these words', now the results will only contain items that have both words civil and war in the database fields.
If you change the keyword drop list to 'Exactly matches', now the results will only contain items that have the phrase 'civil war' in the database fields.
To limit my results even further I can select for example in the drop list field called 'Type' the choice of rifle, and I will limit my results to all items that have the phrase 'civil war' in the text fields and are a rifle type item.
• Display Only Category lots
The drop down list named Category will show all related items of the named category chosen from the list. Once you select any category the form will refresh with those items. If needed you can use the keyword search on the displayed items from the category.
• Display Only NON-FIREARM lots
When selected, this checkbox will narrow your search results to include ONLY non-firearm auction items.
When un-selected, your search results will include all auction items.
Once you have entered your desired criteria, click the “Display Results” button to run your search. If you do not come up with any results, you may want to remove some of the criteria you entered to make your search more broad. Click the “CLEAR ALL SEARCH CRITERIA NOW” button when you are ready to run a new search. This will clear out all the fields and you will be able to choose new criteria.
Viewing an Item
Once you have searched the catalog and found an item you want to bid on, simply click anywhere on the lot in the search screen and you will be taken to the details of that lot. There you will see the full description and all thumbnail photos of the item. Click on any thumbnail to view the full size image of the item. To return to your search, click the “Search Again” button in the upper right corner of the window. To view the next or previous lot, click the “Next Lot” or “Previous Lot” buttons.
