DescriptionLate WWII K98 rifle manufactured by Waffenwerke Bruenn, A.-G., Werke Bystrica in 1944. The top of the receiver ring is marked with a Waffenamt proof over "dou / 44", the left side wall is marked "Mod. 98" and the left rear of the barrel is marked with the Nazi firing proof, the serial number, "?B dou" and two "eagle/A80" proofs. The bolt is renumbered to the gun, and no other parts are numbered. Stamped and welded barrel bands and stamped trigger guard and floor plate. Hooded blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and mounted with an unmarked one piece pistol grip laminated stock with matching handguard and cupped buttplate. Complete with a brown leather cross hatch sling.

ConditionExcellent. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish overall, with wear on the edges and high spots, with the balance a smooth mottled brown patina. The bolt shows normal wear from cycling, with the floor plate showing areas of gray patina in the center. The stock has been freshened with a coat of varnish and remains very good. There are four letters scratched into the left side of the buttstock that are partially visible and overall some scattered minor dings and scratches. The sling is very good. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.

DescriptionThe top of the receiver ring is marked with a eagle proof over "byf / 43". The right side of the receiver has a single "eagle/135" proof, and the left side is marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number. The left rear of the barrel also has a Nazi firing proof and the top is marked "43 D8". It has milled parts, slotted cleaning rod, hooded front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and is mounted with a laminated stock and matching handguard, cupped buttplate and leather cross hatch sling marked "2804-0252". There are no visible markings on the stock.

ConditionVery good. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with a smooth brownish patina on the balance. The stock and handguard have been lightly sanded and varnished, and remains very good with few minor cracks behind the sling slot on both sides, and overall some minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. With visible numbers matching. The sling is good and the action is excellent.

Shipping

SHIPPING CHARGES. All shipping charges must be paid by the successful bidder prior to delivery of the firearm. If Rock Island Auction (RIAC) is asked to ship the purchased lots, there will be a separate charge for such shipping. Shipping charges will be based upon what it costs RIAC to ship the purchased lots to the purchaser. All items must have shipping insurance; this insurance is mandatory. RIAC will not charge any labor charges for shipping. RIAC is not liable for any acts of omissions in packaging or shipping. Purchased lots handled by outside carriers or packers, including those RIAC may have recommended, may carry their own insurance and any claims for losses or damages should be addressed directly to the outside carriers or packers. RIAC will arrange for packing and shipping at RIAC’s earliest possible convenience. RIAC will attempt to ship as soon as possible; however, due to RIAC’s high volume of absentee bids, shipping can take up to two weeks after full payment is received. In the case of crating or any exceptional packaging, the purchaser will be charged RIAC’s cost from outside agents. Purchaser pays shipping, packing materials, and insurance charges. The shipping of any purchased items outside of the United States is hereby classified as “foreign export”. All foreign export is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
