The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 45" on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark and the number "4". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the grip straps under the grip. The matching last two digits of the serial number "40" is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder. The matching assembly number "79" is marked on the loading gate and right rear of the frame. Blue finish with casehardened frame, blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with two piece ivory grips with a steer head carved on the right panel and silver Colt medallions. Complete with an original paper covered cleaning brush and the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun with "IVORY" over "RUBBER" for the grips and "Gvd Steers Hd Ivory" sticker on the lid end flap.
|Condition||Near new in original box. The revolver retains 99% original blue finish with a faint double drag line on the cylinder and some light spotting on the grip straps. The frame also retains 99% original bright vivid case colors. The grips are excellent with an attractive patina in the pronounced grain with some dark age stress lines on the bottom and left side medallion. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent. The box is fine with a reglued corner on the lid and some loss of the maroon material on the corners and edges.|

SHIPPING CHARGES. All shipping charges must be paid by the successful bidder prior to delivery of the firearm. If Rock Island Auction (RIAC) is asked to ship the purchased lots, there will be a separate charge for such shipping. Shipping charges will be based upon what it costs RIAC to ship the purchased lots to the purchaser. All items must have shipping insurance; this insurance is mandatory. RIAC will not charge any labor charges for shipping. RIAC is not liable for any acts of omissions in packaging or shipping. Purchased lots handled by outside carriers or packers, including those RIAC may have recommended, may carry their own insurance and any claims for losses or damages should be addressed directly to the outside carriers or packers. RIAC will arrange for packing and shipping at RIAC’s earliest possible convenience. RIAC will attempt to ship as soon as possible; however, due to RIAC’s high volume of absentee bids, shipping can take up to two weeks after full payment is received.
