|Description||This is a beautiful example of a very scarce early pre-WWII, Walther PP presentation pistol that was manufactured circa 1934. It is beautifully engraved in presentation grade, floral and vine pattern with a gold plated finish and deluxe factory grips. This early, rare pistol has a small silver presentation plate on the lower left grip that measures approximately 1" X 1/2", and reads: "Jhrem/Gauarbeitsfuhrer/die Abtilg/. 3/233/ Zella-Mehlis/ Weihnachten 1934". The rear grip strap is also highly engraved in an old Germanic Script with the intertwined (monogram) initials "K/Sch" inside an oval. The presentation plate loosely translate as "to the leader of the workers department number 3/233 Christmas 1934". It appears to be some kind of internal Walther factory presentation piece given to one of the worker departments that met some of their production goals for the year. A similar type presentation pistol is shown/discussed on pages 70-71 of the book "Walther Volume II Engraved, Presentation and Standard Models" by Rankin. This pistol has 98% of it metal surfaces covered with the noted engraving which was then gold washed/nickel plated over the entire surface. It has the standard Walther two line factory markings that consist of "Walther" inside a banner next to "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur)/Walther's Patent Cal 7,65 m/m" next to "Mod. PP". The right side of the slide and barrel both have the "Nazi Eagle/N" commercial proof. It is complete with an original, unmarked medium brown leather holster that has a single magazine pouch on the front and cleaning rod slot on the side. It has a full flap with a single large belt loop on the back side, and comes with a spare Walther PP magazine that is also gold washed and has a brown finger extension base on it.
|Condition||Fine with 30% plus of the original gold washed finish still remaining over the mostly intact nickel plated underplating. The grips are still in very nice original condition with both grip panels showing some light age cracking running down the left side and a horizontal piece (approximately one inch in length) missing on the front edges of the right grip panel. The presentation plate on the left side shows some tarnish around the edges with two of the cracks starting from the edges. This is a historic Walther PP pistol that is fresh to the market that needs further research and documentation.|
