Where is the best place to sell your guns?
With Rock Island Auction Company, of course! We hold 5 auctions per year and sell everything from bladed weapons and militaria to world class collections and the beloved, handed-down family firearm. We understand how hard the decision can be to finally let go of an item that has been so dear for so long. That’s why we not only strive to make the process as easy as possible, but also to get you top dollar. We have a huge database of customers, a strong internet presence, advertisements in numerous publications, and a professional staff that will assist you every step of the way.
We set a record for gun sales in 2012 with over $47 MILLION!
Step 1 – Gun Evaluation: The first question that most people ask is “What are my firearms worth?” The best way to determine that is with a pre-auction evaluation. Sometimes this can be done with a simple phone call, while other items may require a visual review. If you are located near us, you can always set an appointment to bring in your items. If you are not within driving distance, we can often begin the review with a few well-placed photos and should your collection consist of many items, we can even review a detailed inventory list to avoid excessive taking and sending of photos. There is no obligation or cost for us to evaluate your items. As we calculate what your item(s) may be worth, we will also inform you of our selling commission so that you can make as informed a decision as possible about consigning your weapons or even selling them to us outright. If you choose to move forward, the next step is arranging transportation of your items to our auction facility.
Step 2 – Transport: We have several options available to make transporting your items to our facility as painless as possible. Shipping will be the most efficient method when dealing with a small number of firearms. When shipping, it is important to remember that you do not need an FFL (Federal Firearms License). By law, the shipper is not required to have a license. Just securely pack the item and take it to a shipping service of your choice. Should that shipping company ask for our FFL, please contact us and we’d be happy to forward a copy to you. If you have a large collection of items to transport, we many be able to pick up your items with our D.O.T. certified drivers. In many cases, even for smaller collections, we can arrange a pickup the next time we are in your area.
Step 3 – The Auction: Once the firearms have arrived at our facility, our auction production team immediately goes to work. We verify the shipment and decide which of our auction types will be the best possible fit for your item. Once an auction has been designated, the item will be inventoried, described in detail, and photographed for our catalog. While your item is awaiting its “big day,” it will be marketed heavily! We want to make sure people know about all the great items coming to auction. We advertise in industry publications, local newspapers, HUGE newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, email, international periodicals, and on numerous websites.
Step 4 – Payment: Checks are cut and sent out thirty-five calendar days after the completion of the sale.
Let’s get started! Remember, there is no cost nor obligation to find out what your guns may realize at auction.
