Dear Patrick,
One of the hardest decisions I had to make in life was to get rid of something that was so dear to me. The guns I had put up for auction had been in my family since they were bought over to this country one hundred years ago. They were to be passed on to my son as they were to me. My son died this time last year at the age of 25. As he loved these guns, it was hard to decide what to do. My daughters were not interested in the guns, thus I decided to sell through you to help pay for some of their schooling.
I only want to say that the amount of professionalism that has incurred since sending these out has been outstanding. Granted I do not know if they are going to sell or at what price, I can only say that I feel that I have made the right decision. However, if they do not sell, it will be by no fault of yours (or mine). The overall marketing, the 16-page mailer and the catalog itself have been outstanding. The people I have dealt with have also been outstanding. I just wanted to let you know, that you made a very personal decision very easy. I wish continued good luck to you and all of your staff as you supply a service that has been invaluable to me.

Regarding this last regional auction:
Once again due to work and family I was unable to attend the preview and auction in person, however had questions over a couple of the lots. I utilized both phone and your web “chat live” features. Many thanks to Heather who came back quickly on the web based questions. Then Patrick went above and beyond sending me additional pictures on a number of items within one lot. Finally when I hadn’t received some requested info I left a follow up note on the “chat live” feature even though it was no longer on line… within 20 minutes Ryan telephoned me and answered all my questions and provided an outstanding detailed over the phone description of the lot.
Though I bid on almost all the lots Heather and Patrick provided information on, I was unsuccessful. However due to the information Ryan provided on that last lot, I was successful in buying it for more than I would have bid without the additional information.
Just wanted you to know and if you could, pass along how much I appreciated the quick accurate responses ….very nice job to all.

I wish to thank all of those at Rock Island Auction Company. I received my items last night by Fedex and could not be happier. The professionalism of the packaging and care involved to insure all items were accounted for and cared for properly is the best I have seen as well as the timelyness of the shipping. I won the lot thru the proxibid system which I have used a few times before. In the past thru other auction companies It has taken over a month to receive the items and the last item I received was incomplete and after several calls and not even one call back to me I am still trying to deal with it and the mistrust this has caused against buying online. I sell hundreds of items a month on ebay and have prided myself on packaging and have been surprised on how others sometimes just stuff it in a box or large padded envelope and stick a label on it and pass it on to the shipping company with no care as to how it is received. I feel it is so bad that I have a saved note that I cut and paste and send to every seller once I win something explaining to them how I want the items to be packaged to avoid damage.
Again my hats off to the crew at Rock Island Auction Company and I look forward to future dealings with your company.

I really think you folks have a truly class act here. Your customer service, especially for a first time customer that is full of questions, really is second to none. Ms. Johnson is who has been assisting me. The answers I received were concise, clear, and done in a friendly yet businesslike manner.
Also, sending along a catalog of the sale is really smart and builds customer loyalty as well and leaves an impression of a company that is run in the old manner (Great customer service builds a loyal customer base). I tried to run my electronics company just like that when I was in business.

I have a friend who did list and sell a firearm thru your company. He had the full color catalog and he gave it to me, what a beautiful job of printing of both the color and black and white catalogs. I had worked for 42 years in the lithographic printing trade and your printed materials in my opinion are a work of art. Even the black and white catalog was beautifully printed, photos were clear and crisp and even the smell of the paper it was printed on has a clean crisp smell. You are a top notch company and are commended on your artistic presentation and detail. I hope to travel to one of your auctions and see first hand how your auctions work.

I look forward to the April catalog and a successful sale. I want to thank you for the complimentary Feb. 27/28 catalog. I have been quite impressed with the level of service that RIA has provided from each person to whom I have spoken. The customer service has been first-rate.
I am an appraiser and sell via auction items I own (and items I consign from clients, 1k+ antique smalls) mostly through Charlton Hall, Columbia SC (some through Brunk's, Asheville NC) and western items via Cowan's. From my experience, most auction houses have an opinion of 'houses' in other specialties. Is there a general auction, offering a 'similar quality of client service', that RIA would consider recommending to me?
I haven't run across many good firearms or edged items but plan to adjust my focus after this experience with RIA.

I have submitted sealed bids for items at previous auctions,and the gals on the phone who arranged payment and shipping were always efficient, knowledgeable, pleasant, and most helpful.
This was the first auction that I was able to attend in person, and more than just an opportunity to purchase, it was a very enjoyable experience because of the supportive interaction of the RIA employees.
The catalogs, preview, and the crisp pace of the auctioneers all contributed to the actual acquisition of the individual collectables. But the casual conversations during preview, quick and efficient check-out, and easy and organized pick-up added so much to the experience.
The grilled brats and sides for lunch were very much appreciated as well.
Accepting my personal check as payment is a privilege which I shall always honor.

Dear Allison, Leslie and Pat-
We safely returned to Texas this evening and observed that both lists came through in the below email. We greatly appreciate the information for reference.
As all of you know, this was a difficult experience for me. My pistols are not many in either their number or magnificence but they do represent many years of devoted interest and have filled my heart. Now, through the photos that will be produced and the great expertise that RIA will employ in its presentations, I will endeavor to collect and save that data in formats whereby the pistols and accessories will continue to be accessible and close to me.
As I mentioned to all of you, I believed that RIA was my best choice for placing them with others who would, hopefully, be conservators of both the past and the future. After spending our time with you, both Janet and I were comforted in that decision. I know that the auction process will takes its course and that the results will be what they will be. We do not have any control over that but I do have great faith in your abilities to practice the process in the best manner.
So, once again, thanks for the gracious hospitality and assistance that was extended to us and for Pat’s generous gift of “giving me the run of the shop”. I cannot adequately tell you how much fun I had meeting all of you, observing your processes and methods, and, while roaming around, diligently trying not to drool on any of the items!!

I visited my receiving dealer to pick up the lot won in your recent auction on June 27th and 28th. To say that I am pleased would be an understatement. My dealer claims to have never seen guns packaged as well as these were, not to mention the original boxes packages separately from the guns. The guns? I have waited almost 35 years to add these to my collection and here I found both in a single lot!
Thank you for a pleasant buying experience from start to finish. In working on the phone with the staff, they all seem not only to enjoy what they are doing, but are as professional and courteous as any folks that I have ever dealt with. I eagerly look forward to the next auction. I am hooked!

My two purchases arrived today, The three hand guns were better than expected by a considerable degree. It took 5 business days from the end of the auction to "in my hands". Packing was wonderful. Your service continues to set the standard at world class levels.
I hope you will continue the internet live bidding - I just miss the donuts!

Aside from being pleased with my success in obtaining two lots from Frank's collection, I wish to express my thanks to your staff in their assistance.
