Description:
Czechoslovakian ZH29 semi-automatic rifle. Introduced in 1929 the rifle was manufactured in limited numbers and exported to Ethiopia and Thailand. The rifle has a 10-round detachable magazine, tangent rear sight and a distinctive aluminum cooling jacket. The rifle has a blued receiver and two-piece, European Walnut stock and forearm. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA/AKCIOVIA SPOLECNOST/BRNO" in three lines with the Ethiopian Lion Crest stamped on the forward portion of the receiver and on the lower right side of the stock. The rack number "0058" is stamped on the stock below the Ethiopian Crest. The barrel and receiver have a distinctive, translucent blue-brown finish. The cooling jacket is natural aluminum and the bolt is bright. The ZH29 was one of the first semi-automatic rifles to see actual service.
Condition:
Very good. The rifle retains approximately 30% of the original blue-brown finish; mostly in protected areas of the barrel and receiver. The barrel and receiver have some scattered surface discoloration but no pitting. The stock and forearm are in in very good overall condition with scattered handling marks. The markings on the receiver and stock are clear. This is a very good example of a very rare and historically significant pre-World War II semi-automatic rifle.
Additional Info/FAQ's:
The bore is bright, good rifling and no pitting
