Description:Possibly German in origin, this shotgun has no visible maker markings and gauges at approximately 16 gauge. The letter "P" on the right lock plate ahead of the hammer is the only visible marking. Single bead sight with Damascus 16 gauge barrels. The lock plates feature a floral engraving which extends to the artfully shaped dog head sculpted hammers. The trigger guard features an engraved dog. The stock features a carved "V" pattern accented with a row of floral blossoms on the forearm and wrist area with a relief carved stag head on the underside of the buttstock and a relief carved floral blossom behind the raised cheekpiece on the left side. The underside of the forearm has a small oval shaped pearl inlay.
Condition:Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina with some minor pitting (more extensive on the left barrel). The barrels retain 30% of the Damascus pattern. The stock is very good with some minor dings and scratches. The carved "V" pattern on the forearm and wrist is showing some wear. Right hammer needs work, the buttplate compartment has a broken latch, and 3/4 of the wooden ramrod remains.
