| Description: | This is a WWI German Luger pistol that was manufactured by the Imperial Arsenal at Erfurt in 1918. The chamber is dated 1918 and it has the standard "Crown/ERFURT" marks on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the Crown Erfurt script proofs next to an Imperial Eagle firing proof, as well as the "Crown over RC" proof only found on Erfurt manufactured Lugers. The Luger is fitted with a correct Erfurt barrel that is proofed with the Erfurt "Crown" over Script letter markings, along with the small Imperial Army firing proof. The overall pistol exhibits the typical Erfurt Arsenal rough machining and rust blued finish with many of the smaller parts having the Erfurt "Crown over a script" letter proof or the Crown over "RC" proof. The pistol has the standard fixed front and rear sights and the extractor and safety are properly marked with "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". It is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips and it has a WWI era nickel plated magazine with the wooden base marked with "9419+/Crown letter proof". | ||
| Condition: | Fine with 75% plus of the rust blued finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots with actual blue loss on the side plate, muzzle area and the front edges of the frame rails, with a couple of old spots of pitting on the barrel. The various small parts retain 55% of their straw colors. The grips are in good condition showing fairly moderate wear on both sides with some flattening of the checkering. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine. | ||
