Lot 254: Katana Length Japanese Sword

39" OAL, 28" blade with "sawtooth" pattern hamon, copper habaki, round iron tsuba with multi-metal floral overlay, naval style brass floral menuki, and leather covered saya. The tang is marked with a "showa" stamp and a two-symbol carved inscription on the left side. The blade is very good with minor spotting, a very strong hamon, and a few cuts/dents on the sides, the tang is heavily oxidized with a deep brown patina and some loss of the overlay, and the saya shows signs of heavy use and travel.
