Manufactured by John Shuler of Liverpool, Pa. in the early 1800s. The rifle features superposed barrels that revolve, each having it's own bolster, nipple and iron sights, and one being rifled and one smoothbore. Both barrels appear faintly marked "J.R. SHULER" and a faint indecipherable marking starting with "J.R." is on the rib. The lock has faint engraving but no visible maker's marks.
OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.
German silver grip/lock engraved with floral scroll, British proofs on barrel and lock.
