Manufactured 1959-1968, the Model 46 was a streamlined version of the Model 41 target pistol, eliminating some of the aesthetic features while keeping the mechanical quality solid. A limited number of these were acquired by the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force; this pistol was one of 600 guns sold to the U.S. Army and shipped to U.S. Army Ordnance Depot, Anniston, Alabama, in 1963 (see the included copy of the S&W invoice). Ramp blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, with standard markings on the slide, frame and barrel, "U.S." on the left side of the frame over the trigger, and checkered wraparound thumbrest grips.
