Description:

The included factory letter lists this revolver in .45 caliber with 5 1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish, and stocks not listed with the special notation "For use in preparation of an article for Argosy Magazine" on a loan account for Pete Kuhlhoff in Clinton Connecticut on March 7,1958. Fitted with blade front and frame notch rear sights. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, triggerguard, and back strap with partial serial number "169" on the rear face of the frame and inside the grips. The assembly number "173" is on the frame and inside the loading gate. Pete Kuhlhoff was a pulp journalist, author, and illustrator from the Great Depression until his death in 1972. His illustration work reached its height during World War II as Kuhlhoff was not required to serve in the Armed Forces due to his age. During the 50s, when this revolver would have been shipped to him, he was writing technical articles about firearms and ammunition for Argosy Magazine. These articles were typically not just written by Kuhlhoff, but illustrated as well. Includes original black box with "NICKEL FINISH" sticker above end label and bore brush.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original nickel finish with minimal limited handling marks, drag lines in the cylinder notches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is very fine with minimal handling marks.
