A) Rare Imperial Japanese Type 38 Rifle Manufactured by Jinsen Arsenal With Education Crest

Description:

the 6.5 mm, Type 38 was designed by famed arms inventor Kijiro Nambu and was adopted by Imperial Japan in 1905. The receiver of this rifle is marked "38 Type" indicating its adoption during the 38th year of Meiji. The receiver is also marked with a large encircled kanji character indicating "for Education," serial number, and symbol of the Jinsen Army Arsenal. The bolt handle, floor plate, and bayonet lug are unnumbered. The bolt and cleaning rod are in-the-white. The floor plate release, trigger, ejector spring, and rear sight leaf spring are strawed. The remainder of the metal parts are blued.

Rating Definition:

This rifle is in very good condition with approximately 85% of the original metal finish remaining. The bolt handle exhibits some fine pitting while the side of the safety exhibits some deeper pitting. There is a small 1/16 inch hole drilled into the side of the safety with a large pitted area on the right side. The wood has been refinished and there are two 1/4 inch diameter holes drilled in the buttstock and in the fore-end presumably for wall mounting. The bore is generally bright with strong rifling; however, there is a section of the bore that is heavily pitted.

Interchangeable inverted "V" front sight and adjustable rear sight with graduate marks in Siamese.Full one piece semi pistol grip stock with finger grooves, handguard, steel buttplate with stock compartment and sling swivels. The rifle is complete with dust cover and cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% finish. The wood is very good to excellent with light scratches, pressure dents and dings from use.
