This is a rare original 1922 Springfield Armory 22 target rifle that has been restocked for target shooting. The rifle has been modified by the installation of a custom, thumb-hole target stock along with the addition of a set of early Fecker/Uverti style scope blocks, marked "A.O. Neidner." on top. The rifle comes in the original wooden box with a cleaning rod, Freeland hook and rubber mounted buttplate, and a 10 power J.W. Fecker scope with windage and elevation ring and recoil spring. Equipped with a raised globe front and no rear sight. There is a receiver sight mounted, however the rod and peep sight are missing. The muzzle is marked "SA" over ordnance bomb over " 7-22". Marked "U.S. / Springfield / Armory / 1922 CAL. .22" on top of the front receiver ring. A palm rest dove tail rail has been installed on the floor plate. The bolt is marked "M2", the bolt handle is marked "NS/M2". The stock is a one piece, custom hand made with a thumb hole pistol grip, cheek piece and a beaver tail forearm with sling rings and an aluminum spacer on the butt and an aluminum target butt plate made by Al Freeland.

Custom refurbished. The rifle retains 95% of the faded original blue finish with light scratches and a couple of small areas of spotting on the barrel. The floor plate and trigger guard have a smooth brownish patina. The stock is very good with a few scattered minor dings. The scope is excellent with only a couple of light scratches and clear optics. The box is good.
