This is an officer's 1834 pattern helmet for the Inniskilling Dragoons. The gilt skull and peaks are topped by a high gilt comb bearing decorative sprays of acorns and oak-leaf. The comb is mounted with a full dress bearskin crest. The side of the skull bears decorative gilt oak-leaf sprays and a scallop with scrolls adorn the rear peak. The regimental title scroll covers the top of the front peak and bears the inscription "INNISKILLING DRAGOONS". Large Tudor rose ear bosses suspend velvet backed gilt chin scales with paw clasps. The rayed helmet plate has the Royal Arms of Great Britain with the "WATERLOO" honor in a banner underneath the coat-of-arms. The sweat band is quilted white silk with the peaks lined with black skived leather. The helmet is complete with a lion head finial that can replace the bearskin crest.

Very good, the plated skull and peaks are bright with minor wear on the edges of the plate, lettering and floral scroll details. There are several minor repaired cracks in the comb and some light pitting under the finish. The velvet chin scale backing shows minor wear. The bearskin crest is an excellent contemporary replacement. The liner has some stains. The lion finial has some verdigris in the protected areas.
