Manufactured in 1944 per the included C.M.P. research. This is a good example of a late WWII M1 Garand rifle that was Arsenal converted to a M1D Sniper rifle. This receiver of this rifle is marked "U.S. RIFLE/CAL 30 M1/ SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/2645873" and the M1D Sniper barrel is marked: "S-A-6-52" with a "P" proof. Fitted with the correct scope mounting block for the side mounted M84 telescopic sight. The oil finished walnut stock is marked with a boxed "SA" cartouche over "RA" under the cheek pad and a circled "P" inspection mark on the underside of the wrist. Fitted with a leather sniper cheek pad marked "MRT/11-62" Includes correct model M84 scope (serial number 43392), canvas bag for scope, T37 flash hider, cleaning tools and a green canvas sling.
