This all metal flintlock pistol is by Thomas Murdoch of Doune, Scotland, in 1741-1791. The lock plate has a simple border engraving and is signed "T./MURDOCH." The metal stock features near full coverage scroll and geometric engraving accented with two engraved silver inlaid bands on the underside and a silver oval thumb escutcheon. The engraved patterns extend to the hammer and barrel. The barrel has a cannon type muzzle. The rounded trigger has a floral blossom engraving. The left side of the stock has an engraved belt hook. The bulbous butt has four silver inlaid engraved triangles surrounding a silver inlaid center. The pistol has an ornate metal ramrod.
