Description:

Measuring 6 1/2 inches overall, this push knife is fitted with a 4 inch long double edged spear point blade, with a thin round shank and the number "31" in red enamel paint on one side; while not documented, similar enamel markings have been seen on items from the inventory of Robert Abels, antique dealer and author of the pamphlet "Bowie Knives" and the book "Classic Bowie Knives". The handle is smooth one-piece rosewood, lightly contoured with the tang visible through the back and secured with a German silver spanner nut. The sheath is constructed from brown leather with German silver fittings, with a red enamel "31" opposite the integral belt loop.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The steel has taken on a mixed gray patina, with some light spotting, and the grip shows a few cracks around the shank but is otherwise good. The sheath has a loose tip and cracking of the leather.
