Description:

Manufactured by Rogers & Spencer between June 1862 and January 1863. Total production is estimated at around 3,000-3,400 revolvers. This example has standard double action only ("self-cocking") mechanism, "WW" and "W" inspection marks, a cartouche on each grip, "PETTENGILLS/PATENT 1856" and "RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE/PATENTED 1858" markings on the top strap, and the matching serial number on the trigger guard, butt and grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. There are strong traces of original finish visible on the cylinder and barrel, gray and brown patina on the balance, patches of mild pitting/oxidation throughout, mild edge war, a few strike marks, and mostly crisp markings. The front sight has been slightly modified, and the loading lever/cylinder pin screw is a replacement and does not properly secure the parts. The revarnished grips are also very good with fairly crisp cartouches, moderate edge wear, light scratches, and small nicks. It is mechanically fine.
