Henry Nock Flintlock Volunteer Type Musket with Bayonet

Manufactured by Henry Nock around 1800. The barrel has a bayonet stud/block front sight and Tower private proof and view markings flaking "HN" on the upper left at the breech. The lock is signed "Nock" in ornate script at the center. The oval wrist escutcheon has a dog over a torse and "No. 3." The side plate is more like that of a fowling piece and has a third screw at the tail. Sling swivels are fitted to the forend and front of the trigger guard. The included socket bayonet has a "S&K" marked three times along with a single "P" at the base of the blade.

ConditionFair with mix of gray and brown patina, some staining, mild oxidation, aged patina on the brass, cracked trigger guard tang, and minor marks and scratches. The hammer is a professionally made replacement. The refinished stock is fair with slivers absent along the edges of the forend, minor dings and scrapes throughout, and minor cracking at the butt on the right. Mechanically fine. The bayonet matches the overall condition of the musket fairly well and is very good with oxidation, pitting, dark patina, and moderate wear.
