Former Colt Master Engraver Alvin Alexander White was considered the "dean of American arms engravers" and is among the greatest American arms engravers of all time. He engraved guns while serving as an air corpsman in World War II, and worked as a master engraver for Colt following the war. He engraved fine arms for a variety of world leaders and other wealthy individuals both in the U.S. and abroad. His work has been shown in many publications and is contained in some of the world's finest public and private collections of fine arms. This pistol has stars around the muzzle, traditional blade and notch sights, four German silver bands on the barrel along with scroll engraving and White's initials, scroll engraved German silver lock and inlays (note particularly the finely engraved patriotic bald eagle and shield design on the left stock flat), and subtle figure on the smooth stock.
