Outstanding Factory Panel Scene Engraved Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Large Frame Single Action Revolver with Pearl Grips

Manufactured from 1876 to the 1880s, these large frame single action revolvers were also known as the "Army Revolver". This late model has a top strap, cylinder flutes and square butt. The front sight is a blade integral to the barrel, and the rear sight is a "V" notch just ahead of the hammer on the frame. The left side of the barrel has the one-line Hopkins & Allen address marking, the top of the barrel has the one-line Merwin Hulbert address/patent information, and the left side of the frame is marked "CALIBRE 44 M.H.Co." under the cylinder. Most of the surfaces are decorated with factory engraved floral motifs featuring enamel dot insets. The side plate is engraved with a running stag scene. Matching serial numbers are stamped on the butt, rear cylinder face and barrel.

ConditionExcellent, retaining 97% untouched original nickel finish showing some scattered minor edge wear and flaking. 40% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. 80% original nitre blue remains on the trigger. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also excellent showing minimal handling marks and fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. Truly a high condition factory panel scene engraved Merwin, Hulbert & Co. revolver with outstanding red, green and black enamel colors in the engraving.
