William Nicholson was located at No. 45 Cornhill, London, c. 1787-1791 and appears to have sold a variety of multi-shot boxlock pistols. This pistol has three barrels with false rifling, London proof and view marks, a rotating pan, sliding safety that engages the frizzen, a folding "snap bayonet" released by pulling the trigger guard back, "Nicholson/CORN-HILL" in an oval on the left, "London" on the right, flags and floral engraving, and smooth grip with a plain silver escutcheon. Provenance: The Collection of Joe M. Wanenmacher Jr
Fine with a mix of gray and brown patina, minor oxidation, crisp markings and engraving, and dark aged patina on the silver. The grip is also fine and has smooth finish and minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
