Documented Identified New Orleans Shipped Colt Single
Action Bisley Model Frontier Six Shooter Revolver with Scarce Box
and Factory Letter - Serial no. 271734, 44-40 cal., 7 1/2 inch round
bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 7
1/2 inch barrel in desirable .44-40 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when shipped to Stauffer Eshleman & Co., New
Orleans, Louisiana, for E.C. Glenn on June 5, 1906. Research provided by the consignor has identified E.C. Glenn as Edgar C. Glenn (1874-?), a prominent and progressive
Hampton County, South Carolina businessman. He was the vice president
and general manager of the Big Salkehatchie Cypress Company. His career in
business began in the state where he was born, Louisiana, working on a sugar
plantation and later in the lumber business. In 1914, he came to Varnville, South
Carolina, and co-founded Big Salkehatchie Cypress Co. The barrel has the one-
line Hartford address and “(BISLEY MODEL)/COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER.” The
left side of the frame has the two-line patent date marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are found on the
frame, trigger guard, back strap and both grip panels. Comes with a rare period correct matching numbered Colt Bisley box. The end label
correctly lists the barrel length and caliber. The interior of the lid has a Colt Hartford/London maker’s label. The box contains a bore brush, “L” shaped screwdriver and “Special Notice.”
CONDITION: Very fine. 70% plus original bright blue finish remains with the balance a smooth brown patina. The hammer and frame retain 50% original case colors. The grips are excellent showing minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with a couple repairs and minor wear. Much of the end labels remain.

Attractive Nickel-Plated First Generation
Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver - Serial no. 353727, 44-40 cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., nickel finish, smooth grips. Manufactured in 1929, this is an attractive nickel-
plated Colt Frontier Six Shooter SAA revolver. The barrel is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER
.44-40” on the left side and “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co/HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.” on top. The left side of the frame is stamped
with the two-line, three patent dates markings followed by a Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard has the number “3” and a Colt triangle VP proof. Matching numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Each grip panel is numbered to the gun and has a silver Rampant Colt medallion.
CONDITION: Very fine. The pistol retains 98% plus polished nickel finish showing a spot of wear on the loading gate and some scattered minor handling marks. Both the barrel and cylinder are replated.
The replacement grips are also very fine with typical age cracking on the
bottoms and some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
