Highly Attractive and Exceptional Casehardened Westley Richards Percussion Pepperbox Pistol - NSN, 42 cal., 3 5/8 inch fluted cluster bbl., casehardened finish, walnut grips. The frame features fine quality scroll engraving and is signed “WESTLEY/RICHARDS” on the left side and “IMPROVED/REVOLVING/PISTOL” on the right side. Additional engraving decorates the bar hammer, trigger guard and grip cap. The action is fitted with a sliding hammer safety. Each of the six barrels are numbered and each flute of the barrel cluster is British proofed. The one-piece grip features fine checkering, blank silver oval escutcheon and compartment butt cap. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus vivid original case colors. 85% bright original high polished blue remains on the trigger guard. 60% original nitre blue remains on the safety and trigger. The engraving is crisp. The grip is excellent with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Richard P. Mellon Collection. Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

Fine W. Pritchard & Son Percussion Pepperbox Pistol - NSN, 42 cal., 3 3/8 inch fluted cluster bbl., casehardened finish, walnut grips. The floral scroll and border engraved frame is signed “W. PRITCHARD/& SON.” (William Pritchard & Son, Birmingham) on the left side. Additional engraving decorates the bar hammer and trigger guard. Shell pattern engraved on cap compartment. Each barrel is numbered and each barrel cluster flute is Birmingham proofed. Full fine checkering on the two-piece grips.
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 60% plus original case colors. 50% bright original high polished blue remains on the trigger guard. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
