Suzi Bradley Signed, Engraved and Gold Inlaid Chapuis Apex Brousse Double Rifle in .470 Nitro Express -
Serial no. 37269, 470 Nitro Express cal., 23 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/gold finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with high visibility blade front and notch rear sights on raised rib sections, gold bands at either breech and muzzle, and ejectors. The bolstered boxlock action features light gold inlaid scroll borders, bushed firing pins, double triggers, and tang mounted safety switch. This engraving was clearly ordered by someone with a great sense of humor as the gold inlays are different than anything this writer has seen.
The barrels are both marked “load it here” with an arrow pointed toward the either breech, the muzzles
both have an arrow pointed downrange and read “to the buffalo”, and the caliber marking is even cheeky
with “470 MIGHTYRO EXPRESS” on the rear quarter rib. The action is marked “NYATI!” (cape Buffalo in Swahili)
on both sides with the warning “... Run Away!” just above them both, the underside displays a semi-relief bust
of a cape buffalo over “MOO!”, and the trigger guard and lower tang are marked “IF IT MOOS SHOOT IT”. The
passion for the cape buffalo is continued with gold buffalo tracks on the barrel release and a large track on the trigger plate. Beautiful, highly figured multi-point checkered forend with gold line inlaid shoe which is signed “Suzi Bradley” and yet another humorous remark, “Hold on Tight!”, marked on the Deeley latch release. The stock is of equal quality with the same checkering, a cheekpiece, trapdoor grip cap, and thick rubber recoil pad. Includes a faux elephant skin soft case. Length of pull 14 9/16 inches. Weight 10 lbs 13 oz. CONDITION: Excellent as engraved by Suzi Bradley, retaining 99% original blue and 97% original case colors some light fading. The rifle shows minor handling evidence, and the wood is excellent with a few tiny marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This truly is the perfect rifle for any sportsman that doesn’t take things too seriously!
