        LOT 1470 Outstanding U.S. Springfield Model 1903 NRA Sale Bolt Action Rifle - Serial no. 623970, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1916, this rifle was later released from government stores for private sale via the Director of Civilian Marksmanship; these rifles received the distinctive “(bomb)/N.R.A.” stamp ahead of the magazine floorplate to distinguish them from the arms still in the military inventory. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights (with volley notch), with a “SA/1-16” barrel and a casehardened receiver. The smooth straight wrist stock is marked “J.S.A.” on the left side, circled script “P” on the underside of the wrist, and fitted with a sharply checkered buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent plus, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing some minor handling marks and edge wear overall. The stock is also excellent plus, with some light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. One will look quite some time to find a finer example! Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500

U.S. Springfield M1D Garand Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle with Danish Marked M84 Scope - Serial no. 2269605, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in December of 1943, and later refitted as an M1D sniper rifle. While not explicitly documented as a Danish service weapon, some of the features suggest this was a Danish gun later returned to the U.S. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a Springfield “S-A-7-51” barrel, “SA” bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, and relief cut operating rod. The barrel is fitted with the distinctive scope mounting block, and the M84 scope bears a serial number of “982” on the data plate and “crown/FKF/nr942788” engraved on the tube, and is fitted with a sliding sun shield and a rubber eyepiece. The stock is marked with a circled serifed “P” on the wrist, with a “MRT/1 52” marked leather cheekpiece (brass screws not installed or included), a Danish “M/50” marked ‘dope sheet’ range card on the right side, and a checkered steel buttplate. Also included is a conical M2 flash hider. CONDITION: Fine, with 80% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish, showing areas of gray patina, bright edge/cycling wear, and mild handling marks. The stock is very good, and shows a number of dents and scuffs, along with some chipping around the edges. The scope shows mild wear and scratching on the body, light cracking in the eyepiece, the adjustments are in fine order, optics crisp and reticle strong. Mechanically excellent. Excellent World War II U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle with British Lend-Lease Proofs - Serial no. 539165, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in March of 1942, shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the formal entry of the U.S. into one of the most decisive conflicts the world has ever seen. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a protective cover on the set screw of the former and a set of early pattern adjustment drums (“BATTLE RANGE” windage and “LEFT/LEFT” elevation with closed arrows and locking bar) on the latter. Fitted with a “SA 3-42” barrel with British lend-lease proofs, “SA” bolt, trigger guard, trigger housing, hammer, safety and uncut operating rod. The stock is marked “S.A./G.H.S.” and crossed cannons on the left, circled “P” on the wrist, and has a checkered steel buttplate. There are faint traces of a red paint band around the upper handguard, typical of lend-lease Garands.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% of the original parkerized finish with some light edge/cycling wear. The wood is very fine with numerous scattered compression dents visible on the right side of the handguard. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,750 - 4,250
LOT 1473 World War II U.S. Winchester M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle - Serial no. 2445445, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in June of 1944, with a reparkerized “WP” Winchester barrel, locking bar equipped Battle Range sight drums, “WRA” bolt, “C46025 WRA” trigger guard, “D28290 WRA” trigger housing, hammer and replacement reparkerized “D35382 WRA” op rod (no relief cut), and a “WRA/GHD” stock with serifed “P” on the wrist. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% of the arsenal parkerized finish with the balance having been touched up with artificial brown. The reoiled wood is also very good with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and a few dark spots. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Allan Cors Collection.
