Blackpowder Colt First
Generation Single Action Army
Revolver with Inscribed Grips
and Factory Letter - Serial no. 139006, 41 Long Colt cal., 5
1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. The accompanying factory letter confirms the 5 1/2 inch barrel in .41 caliber

Standard one-line address on top of the barrel and caliber marking on the left, two-line patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt on the left of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The hard rubber grips are unnumbered and inscribed “W.D. Stepp” on the left in Gothic script and “Trenton Moo/7-19-96” on the right in traditional script. This is likely Major William Dale Stepp who fought in the 139th Infantry in World War I. Stepp was killed in combat during the Push Through The
Argonne in 1918. An included July 6, 1974 dated letter of provenance
written by Philip Sayer of Cincinnati, Ohio, states he purchased this SAA

gun from “from the son of the original owner who is a policeman in the
St. Louis area.”
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 40% original blue and case colors with
a gray brown patina on the balance with a cylinder drag line. The
oversize replacement grips show some handling wear and a slightly

Action Army Revolver with Long
Fluted Cylinder and Factory Letter - Serial no. 330857, 32 WCF cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. The included factory letter confirms the 4 3/4 inch barrel in .32-20 caliber, blue finish and

with distinctive long flutes and falls into the 330,000 serial number range of
known SAAs with long fluted cylinder. The double action long flute cylinders
