LOT 3339 Finely Engraved T. Hicklin Flintlock Coaching Carbine - NSN, 1 inch cal., 27 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1760 and featuring a swamped round blued barrel flared at the muzzle with silver spider front sight, slightly raised tapering sighting flat with tear-drop finial engraved with a spray of scrollwork and signed “LONDON”. Iron false breech grooved to form a rear sight and engraved in low relief with flowering scrollwork. Rounded lock signed “T. HICKLIN” within a ribbon and engraved with rococo scrollwork. Figured walnut full-length stock with molded drop points behind the lock and sideplate and with raised relief molded shell around the false breech tang. Brass furniture comprising of a solid sideplate with stepped tail and engraved with rococo scrollwork, trigger guard engraved with a rosette on the bow and an acorn finial, buttplate cast and chased in low relief with further rococo ornament against a punched ground, and ramrod pipes. With brass tipped ramrod. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel retains most of its professionally restored blue finish with refreshed engraving and scattered pin point corrosion marks visible beneath the finish. The lock has a grey patina with some occasional patches of shallow corrosion, markings and engraving are clear. The otherwise fine stock has numerous scattered age related blemishes, marks and bruises, forearm repaired and restored. The brass furniture is good with clear engraving. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000
   Finely Engraved British 18th Century Joseph Griffin of London Brass
Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet - NSN,
75 gauge, 15 inch flared part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. “GRIFFIN” marked on the lock which features a roller on the frizzen
spring. Joseph Griffin was an active, noted high quality gunmaker from c. 1741 until his death in 1784. “LONDON” marked on the top barrel flat. London proofs marked on the left at the breech. Small floral motifs engraved at the breech, lock, sideplate, trigger guard bow, and
buttplate tang. Britannia shield engraved on the buttplate tang. 11 inch folding “snap” bayonet. The trigger guard has an acorn finial. Stock with checkered wrist. Replacement wooden ramrod. Muzzle flares to 1 1/8 inch, bore measures at approximately .75 caliber.
CONDITION: Very good plus, brass retains an attractive golden aged patina. Light to moderate scattered pitting on the iron surfaces
with mottled brown patina on the snap bayonet. Crisp engraving and markings overall. Stock is also very good with numerous scattered scratches and dents, cracks visible on both sides of the forend, light wear on the checkering, and an attractive figure overall. Mechanically fine action, spring is absent in the snap bayonet.
Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
release catch, and the flat bevelled lock is signed “TWIGG” and has an engraved stepped tail and roller frizzen. Floral and border engraving at the breech, lock, screws, trigger guard bow,
rear of the lower tang, and buttplate tang. Britannia shield engraved on the buttplate tang. 12 5/8 inch folding “snap” bayonet. Walnut stock is fitted with brass mounts including trigger guard with
acorn finial, and a horn ramrod with iron worm is housed beneath the forearm. The bore is estimated above and flares to about 1 1/4 inch at the muzzle.
CONDITION: Fine, brass retains an attractive bright patina. Some patches of light pitting on the iron surfaces. Crisp engraving and markings overall. Stock is very good with scattered light scratches and dents, repaired hairline crack visible ahead of the lock and halfway down the left of the barrel, small repaired section on the bottom edge of the flat and around the trigger guard finial, and an attractive figure overall. Mechanically excellent.

Engraved British Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss with Snap Bayonet Signed Twigg, London - NSN, 65 cal., 14 inch
flared part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Dating to circa 1820, this
Birmingham-made blunderbuss has a round three-stage brass barrel with full length iron spring bayonet above, turned slightly belled muzzle
and is signed “LONDON” and marked with post-1813 Birmingham proofs at the left of the breech. The iron barrel tang is fitted with the sliding bayonet
