English Hollis German Silver Stocked and Finely Engraved Percussion Pistol - NSN, 47 cal., 5 1/2 inch octagon bbl., bright finish, German silver stock. Silver blade front and notch rear sights, with scroll engraving at the muzzle, a set of gold and silver bands at the muzzle and breech, and “HOLLIS CHELTENHAM” on the top flat. The breech plug is also engraved, with a golden proof stamp. The lockplate is German silver, fitted flush with the stock and both engraved with scroll designs, leafy burst accents on the forearm, fish head design on the hammer, an inscription oval on the rear of the grip, and a steel trapdoor installed in the flared butt.
CONDITION: Very good. The barrel is bright with scattered mild pitting and attractive inlays. Mostly bright, lightly toned stock, with crisp engraving and mild handling marks. Mechanically fine.

  The frame, trigger guard and swivel ramrod rib are German
silver, showing a floral engraving on the bolster, a fish head
pattern on the blue hammer, border designs across the top of
the back strap spur, a blank inscription banner opposite the lock and fine scroll engraving. The buttplate is steel with blue finish, scroll and border engraving and a hinged lid for the percussion cap compartment. In a purple

Fine Pair of Cased English Belt Percussion Pistols with Finely Engraved German Silver Saw-Handle Stocks and Gold Inlaid Barrels -A) Engraved English Percussion Belt Pistol - NSN, 50 percussion cal., 5 inch octagon bbl., blue/brown/silver finish, German silver grips. Bead front and notch rear sights, with light border engraving on the muzzle of the Damascus barrel, a crossed scepter proof on the lower left flat, a gold border band at the breech, and gold inlaid leafy vine work on the top flats surrounding “London.”
velvet lined mahogany case containing both pistols, an ebony handled cleaning rod, nipple wrench, a single chamber bullet mold, lacquered cap tin, two lidded compartments and a three-way powder flask. The inside of the lid had a maker’s label, which is absent. CONDITION: Very fine. Clear Damascus patterns remain on the barrel with some brown finish and showing very minor flash pitting around the nipple and a small chip absent from the hammer. The engraving is deep and crisp and the German silver shows minimal wear. Mechanically excellent. The accessories are fine to very fine. The case is fine, with the lining turning brown and showing mild staining and wear. There is separation of the top panel of the lid and overall some scattered scratches and pressure dents.
B) Engraved English Percussion Belt Pistol - NSN, 50 Perc cal., 5 inch octagon bbl., blue/ brown/silver finish, metal grips. As “A”.
CONDITION: Very fine with a mixed brown and gray color on the barrel, which shows a small amount of pitting, strong Damascus pattern, and a tiny amount of absent gold inlay. The German silver is excellent, with light spotting and handling marks, and the hammer and buttplate show 60% of the original blue, the remainder a brown patina with mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent. An outstanding pair of high quality English
percussion saw-handle pistols. Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
