and single extractor
for both chambers. “11.2” is marked on the
underside of the barrels, possibly indicating 11.2x72 Schuler as the caliber. The casehardened rotary underlever receiver and back action
locks display beautiful tight scrollwork with attractive bordering. Both
locks are marked “JOH. SPRINGER’S/ERBEN IN WIEN” and the sides of the receiver are sighed in the same fashion as the barrels above. Nicely figured,
multi-point checkered splinter forend with rotary latch and engraved fitting and pistol grip stock with engraved grip cap inscription oval marked “Y.K.”, and engraved trapdoor buttplate. Length of pull 14 3/8 inches. Weight 8 lbs 13 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue on the barrels with some plum patina, 70% case colors with the balance fading to
silver, and some spotting and scratches along the barrels. The wood is also very fine with some dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

  Hammer Double Rifle in .577 Black Powder Express - Serial no. 938, 577 BPE cal., 27 7/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured around the turn of the century. Blued steel
barrels with beaded blade front sight and three leaf (100, 200, and 300 yards) rear sight on the matted solid rib with doll’s head extension. The barrels are marked
“LYON & LYON 16. CHOWRINGHEE ROAD CALCUTTA” and “JAs LYON LATE WITH JAs PURDEY & SONS LONDON” on the left and
right barrels respectively with standard London proofs on the flats. The casehardened back action locks and receiver feature tasteful floral scroll engraving, engraved
rebounding hammers, double triggers, and top lever barrel latch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with engraved steel grip cap, blank inscription oval, and smooth steel buttplate. Length of pull 14 3/16 inches. Weight 11 lbs 2 oz. CONDITION: Fine, showing 95% professionally reapplied blue with some areas of pitting below the surface, a silvered patina on the receiver and locks, areas of spotting, and some discoloration on the grip cap and buttplate. The wood is very good with a small crack on the forend at the shoe, light handling evidence, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000
