Pre-World War II Engraved Gebruder Merkel Model 300 Combination Rifle/Shotgun - Serial no. 21190, 16/7x57 R cal., 25 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. The shotgun barrel is marked “CARL STIEGELE” and “MUNCHEN” with “GEBRUDER MERKEL/SUHL” marked on the left barrel joint and has a 2 3/4 inch chamber and full choke. The barrels are numbered to the gun and are equipped with beaded blade front and folding notch rear sights and a sighting groove in the matte rib. Initials have been hand marked on the rifle barrel under the forearm. The action has a scroll and floral blossom engraving, cocking indicators, double triggers with set rifle trigger and tang safety. Sling swivels are attached to the underside of the barrel and buttstock. The highly figured forearm and pistol grip stock feature multi-point checkering, an engraved casehardened grip
cap, a cheekpiece and a checkered factory buttplate. The forearm is also numbered to the gun. The stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 5/8 inches; length of pull 13 5/8 inches. CONDITION: Excellent. The barrels retain 97% plus original blue finish with loss at the muzzles. The action retains 95% original case colors. The freshened wood is very fine with a very small surface chip missing
near the upper tang, a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

Engraved Karl Hauptmann Sideplate Boxlock Over/Under Combination Gun with Scope - Serial no. 23153, 16/7mm gauge, 23 3/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with beaded blade front and windage adjustable rear sights on the raised matted solid rib which is marked “KARL HAUPTMANN FERLACH, AUSTRIA.” and barrels marked “DEM FORDERER DER/OSTERREICH. LANDWIRTSCHAFT” and “KARNTER/LANDWIRTSCHAFTSKAMMER” on the left and right respectively. The barrels have extractors and the shotgun barrel has a 2 3/4 inch chamber and is choked .025 inches (improved modified). The coin
finished bolstered sideplate boxlock action features deep relief engraved floral designs surrounding four different animals. The action features gold plated extractors, bushed firing pins, and double triggers as well as a skeletonized release lever and tang mounted safety. Nicely figured forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece. Includes
a K. Kahles H/4X60 scope. Length of pull 14 3/4 inches. Weight 7 lbs 7 oz (with scope). CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue and coin finishes, minor handling evidence, a few small marks in the wood, and crisp checkering in the wood with slight separation on the 3-piece forend. The scope optics are clear. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
LOT 3441 Engraved F. Thiele Boxlock Cape Gun with Case - Serial no. 847.234.27., 16/8.8mm gauge, 27 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with dovetail blade front sight and flip up 100 yard sights on the matted solid rib which is marked “F. THIELE IN TEPLITZ”, 2 1/2 inch chamber for the shotgun barrel, choke constriction measured at .030 inches, and rifle barrel marked “8.8”. The casehardened boxlock action features attractive scroll engraving with line borders, double triggers, and automatic tang mounted safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and rotary latch and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, horn grip cap, and serrated horn buttplate. Includes a William Evans leather bound takedown case with “P.T.C.” Length of pull 13 7/8 inches.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% professionally reapplied blue on the barrels, 70% original case colors, and light spotting and handling evidence. The wood is very
good with numerous dings and scratches and crisp checkering. The case is very good with moderate wear. Mechanically excellent.

  LOT 3442 Engraved J. P. Sauer & Sohn Underlever Hammer Drilling - Serial no. 134422, 16/9 mm gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued Krupp Flussstahl barrels with beaded blade front and flip up rear sights on the solid matted rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, and choke constrictions at .010/.029 inches (improved cylinder/full). The casehardened frame and back action locks feature light scroll engraving, double triggers, and tang mounted barrel selector. Lightly figured multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and round knob pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and serrated hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull 14 1/4 inches. Weight 6 lbs 11 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% original blue, 60% plus original case colors, some areas of thinning, and some minor spotting. The wood is very good with
scattered light scratches, chip at the toe, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,500

Factory Engraved Unknown German Boxlock Drilling with Scope and Case - Serial no. 15908, 16/8x58R cal., 27 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued Rochling’s Stahl barrels with beaded blade front and flip up rear sight and German claw scope mounts fitted with a Voigtländer Braunschweig scope on the matted solid rib, 2 1/2 inch chambers with extractor, and choke constrictions of .022/.028 inches. The scalloped casehardened boxlock action features deer on the left and a fox and hound on the right all surrounded by leafy scroll. Double triggers, sideclips, tang mounted barrel selector, cocking indicators, and Greener safety. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered forend with Deeley latch and engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, cartridge compartment, and horn grip cap and buttplate. Includes faux leather bound takedown case with partial leather sling. Length of pull 14 1/16 inches. Weight 8 lbs 14 oz including scope. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 99% original blue and 95% muted case colors, minor handling evidence, a few small scratches on the stock, and sharp stock checkering. The scope optics are slightly hazy. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,250
