Factory Engraved Gebruder Merkel Model 40E Boxlock Double Barrel Shotgun with Box - Serial no. 381409, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Single brass bead
sight on the matted, concave solid rib, standard barrel markings, chambers proved at 76 mm (3 inches) with automatic ejectors,
and chokes marked “1/2” and “VZ”. The coin finished sideclipped boxlock action features a pair of hares on the left and a trio of mallards on the right all surrounded by floral scrollwork. The gun features double triggers, bushed firing pins, and an automatic tang mounted safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter stock with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release as well as a straight grip stock with Merkel buttplate. Includes original factory box. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 11 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, some minor spotting on the action and forend iron, minor handling evidence, a small scratch on the stock, and sharp stock checkering. The box is very good with mild wear. Mechanically excellent.

LOT 3462 Factory Engraved Gebruder Merkel 28 Gauge Model 280 SL Grade Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun with Box - Serial no. 480841, 28 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 2000. Blued steel barrels with single steel bead sight on the concave, matted solid rib which is marked “No. 24 of 100”, 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) chambers with ejectors, and chokes marked “VZ”/”1/2”. The coin finished sidelock action features floral scroll engraving surrounding a dog flushing a trio of pheasants on the left lock and a fox surprising three mallards on the right. Double triggers and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Highly figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and straight grip stock with Merkel buttplate. The original box has a matching end label. Stock measurements:
1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs 9 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, minor handling evidence, some oil discoloration on the action, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Factory Engraved J. P. Sauer & Sohn 20 Gauge Royal Boxlock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 249212, 20 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1962. Spezial Laufstahl barrels with single white bead sight on the matted solid rib, “J.P. SAUER & SOHN/MADE IN W. GERMANY/ Spezial Laufstahl Bochumer Verein” marked on both barrels with the addition of “Royal” and “20/70/2 3/4”” on the left above and below respectively, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, and chokes marked half/full. The casehardened, sideclipped, scalloped boxlock action features scroll engraving surrounding Sauer banners on either side, double triggers, and automatic tang mounted safety switch. Nicely figured, fancy skip-line checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch
release and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and plastic grip cap and serrated “SAUER” marked buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch
drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 3 oz.
