Pre-World War II Colt Super .38 Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 1934, 38
super auto cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue
finish, smooth grips. Manufactured in
1929, these Super .38 pistols were first shown to the
public at the August 1928 Camp Perry National Matches, and were available
for purchase by the start of 1929. The left side of the matching number slide
is marked with the two-line address and patent dates while the right side
bears the caliber marking along with the Rampant Colt. The serial number is on the
right of the frame, the left of the trigger guard is marked “1” over “VP”, and the right of the trigger guard is marked “20”. Fitted with blade and notch rear sights, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, smooth grips with Colt medallions, and a two-tone .38 Super Auto magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish with the balance showing
cold blue touch up overall having thinned to a smooth grey-brown patina, primarily on edges,
the grip straps, and a small patch of cold blue visible on the right rear and top of the slide. The
replacement grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks and some hairline age cracks in
the top and bottom edges. Mechanically excellent.

Colt Model 1905 Military Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 596, 45
ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1906, this
is one of only 6,210 Colt “Military Model of 1905” pistols manufactured over
a period of six years. These pistols are a very important evolutionary step
in the development of Colt automatic pistols and the Model 1911 as they
were the first production Colt automatic chambered for the
legendary .45 ACP cartridge. This pistol, serial number 596,
was manufactured shortly before Colt began fabricating two
model room examples of the Model 1905 which would later
be submitted to the 1907 U.S. military pistol trials. The left
side of the slide is marked with the two-line two-block patent
dates and address, with the circled Rampant Colt behind the
serrations. The left side of the slide is marked “AUTOMATIC
COLT/CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS”. The left side of the
frame is marked with the serial number along with the non-factory marking “291”, and the
left of the trigger guard has a “VP” proof and “W”. It has rounded blade front and rounded top notch rear sights, and the rounded checkered hammer. It is fitted with a pair of diamond pattern checkered grips and an
unmarked full blue magazine.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% plus of the high polish factory refinished bright blue with the balance mostly a plum brown patina, primarily on high spots, with light handling marks scattered throughout. The grips are very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

2148, 38 super auto cal., 5 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1929, the first year of full
production. The left side of the matching number slide is marked with the
two-line address and patent dates while the right side bears the caliber
marking along with the Rampant Colt. The serial number is on the right of the
frame, the left of the trigger guard is marked “1” over “VP”, and the right of the trigger guard
is marked “99”. Fitted with blade and notch rear sights, wide checkered hammer, long grip
safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, checkered grips, and a two-tone .38 Super Auto
magazine. Includes Seahorse hard case.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 80% of the original blue finish with the balance having mostly thinned
to a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges, and a patch of dark pitting on the front grip strap.
The grips are also very fine with a few light blemishes in the overall crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent.

C1128, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1912, the first
year of production of the commercial Government Model. This
pistol represented the cutting edge of firearm technology and
was highly sought after by military personnel and civilians alike.
This particular example exhibits the early production lustrous high polish blue
finish and nitre blue small parts, as well as the early, four digit serial number on the left of the frame as seen on only the first 2,250 Government Models, and the early “GOVERNMENT MODEL” marking on the front right of the frame. The slide bears the two-line, two-block address and patent markings on the left side with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations and the caliber markings on the right. “VP” and “K” are on the trigger guard. Fitted with fixed blade and notch sights, a set of diamond pattern checkered grips, replacement “P/H” marked barrel, and a “B” marked later production two-tone military magazine.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the original high polish blue finish and 50% of the original nitre blue with the balance mostly a smooth grey-brown patina, primarily on the grip straps and edges, and some cold blue touch-up on the frame around the trigger guard. The grips are very good with some light handling marks and a few mild flat spots in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1917, this pistol represented the pinnacle
of firearms technology at the time and would have been the
envy of military officers and civilians alike. The left side of the
slide has the standard two-line, two-block patent dates and address followed
by the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, caliber marking on the right, and
Government Model marking over the serial number on the right of the frame. The
trigger guard is marked “VP” and “X” on the left. The barrel has a polished chamber
hood, balance blued with “P/5” stamped on the bottom. Fitted with fixed blade and
notch sights, checkered diamond pattern grips, and a two-tone magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish with some light edge
wear, primarily near the muzzle, and some scattered dark surface oxidation overall. The
grips are also very fine with a few scattered minor dings and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Gus Cargile Collection.

C197400, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1939.
Wide blade front and square notch flat top rear sights, with the
two-line address and patent dates on the left side of the slide,
the National Match nomenclature on the right and a Schwartz
patent firing pin safety. The Government Model frame is marked “P/VP” on the
left side of the trigger guard and “60” on the right, with a short milled trigger, wide checkered hammer, arched checkered mainspring housing and grips, post-World War II replacement barrel, and “COLT/45 AUTO” marked two-tone magazine. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus of the period refinished blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on some edges and the mainspring housing, as well as a few scattered patched of rough brown oxidation. The grips are excellent with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Gus Cargile Collection.
