  assembly number “4207” is repeated on the stock inlet along with the letter “P”. The trapdoor buttplate also has the assembly number “4207.” Included is the four piece cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel, dust cover and dust cover rail retain 75% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. 70% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The frame retains 70% vivid original case colors. The hammer, lever and forend cap retain 60% vivid original case colors. Patterns of original case colors remain on the buttplate. Highly Attractive Documented Special Order Winchester Deluxe Model 1873 Lever Action .44-40 Rifle with Factory
Letter - Serial no. 103445, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, highly figured checkered walnut stock. The accompanying factory letter states that this high condition desirable straight grip stock special order Winchester Deluxe Model 1873 rifle was received in the warehouse and shipped on April 2, 1883 with an octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock, “peep and Beach” sights, special order half magazine and casehardened frame. The barrel is fitted with a combination Beach front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two-line New Haven/King’s patent dates legend ahead of the rear sight. The rifle correctly lacks caliber markings. The receiver is a second model with the dust cover rail secured by two screws and a dust cover with serrations at the rear. Mounted on the upper tang is a sight base (sight not included). The serial number is on the lower tang. The frame, hammer, lever, forend cap and buttplate feature the highly desirable casehardened finish. The forearm and straight grip stock are highly figured “XX” deluxe checkered walnut. The left side of the lower tang is marked “XX” and “4207.” The
