Winchester Deluxe Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 125743A, 38 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. The accompanying factory letter confirms the octagon barrel in .38 caliber, plain trigger, checkered stock and casehardened receiver. The rifle was received in the warehouse on November 17, 1883 and shipped the same day. German silver blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel stamped with the two-line legend and “38-CAL”. “MODEL 1873” is stamped on the upper tang, and “38 CAL” is stamped on the cartridge elevator. The third model receiver features an integral dust cover guide rail and dust cover with serrated finger grip on the rear. The checkered forearm and straight grip stock are “XX” deluxe walnut. The trapdoor buttplate contains a four piece cleaning rod. The left side of the lower tang is marked “XX 4804” along with “38” (caliber designation). The stock inlet is also marked with the caliber designation and assembly number “4804.” The assembly number “4804” is repeated on the buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, retaining traces of original blue finish and strong patterns of original case colors, all in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina along with some scattered patches of pitting. Loading gate retains traces of original niter blue. The wood is fine with minor dings and scratches and some wear to the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500

Antique Second Year Production Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Takedown Rifle - Serial no. 14883, 38 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1893, the second year of production, with the two-line Winchester address and caliber marking on the upper barrel flat, model/trademark/patent date on the upper tang, and serial number on the bottom of the receiver. Fitted with German silver blade front and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sights. Mounted with a nicely figured smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish, 50% of the original case colors, and 30% of the original nitre blue with the balance having thinned to a mostly a smooth brown or grey patina. The wood is fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500 LOT 3003 Winchester First Model 1876 “Open Top” Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 3797, 45-75 cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This rifle has the seldom seen open top frame whereas the later Model 1876s had dust covers. Only around 3,000 were produced out of the total of 63,871 manufactured between 1876 and 1897. This example was manufactured in 1878. The non-factory shortened barrel is fitted with a dovetail blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight and is stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight. The rifle correctly lacks a caliber designation as early production Model 1876s were offered in only in .45-75 WCF. The upper tang is marked “MODEL 1876.” Other early features include the large hammer and buttplate with large toe. The action is equipped with a special order single set trigger. The trapdoor buttplate contains a four piece cleaning rod. The accompanying factory letter confirm the 24 inch octagon barrel and set trigger. The rifle was received in the warehouse on June 28, 1878 and shipped the next day. CONDITION: Very good, retaining traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise the rifle has a mottled brown patina. Slight traces of original nitre blue finish remain on the loading gate. The wood is also very good with a hairline stress crack at the upper tang and minor dings and scratches. Documented Special Order Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 153364A, 38 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. The accompanying factory letter confirms the 26 inch octagon barrel in .38 caliber, set trigger (set screw broken), and casehardened receiver. The rifle was received in the warehouse on August 4, 1884 and shipped the next day. Blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel marked with the two-line legend and“38-CAL.”“38 CAL”marked on cartridge elevator. Upper tang marked“MODEL 1873.”The forearm and straight grip stock are nicely figured walnut. Buttstock fitted with a trapdoor buttplate (cleaning rod not included). CONDITION: Very good. Streaks of original blue finish remain on the barrel and magazine and traces of original silvered out case colors remain on the receiver, all in the protected areas, with the balance a smooth brown patina. A series of scratches is present on the left forward side of the receiver. Traces of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate. The wood is also very good with a couple small chips on the forearm at the cap, “H” hand marked on the buttstock (right side) and minor dings and scratches. Trigger adjusting screw is broken off, otherwise action functions fine. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,000

Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle in Desirable .44 W.C.F. with Factory Letter - Serial no. 157530A, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1884 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. Standard two-line barrel address/King’s patent marking, model designation on the upper tang, and serial number on the lower tang. Fitted with German silver blade front, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear, and later-added Lyman tang mounted peep sights. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included). The included factory letter confirms the current configuration as well as receipt at the warehouse on 15 August 1884 and shipment on 10 September 1884. CONDITION: Very good, retains 25% of the original blue finish in sheltered areas, faint traces of the original case colors, and traces of the original nitre blue with the balance having thinned to a mostly grey patina with some areas speckled with brown. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood is also very good with some scattered minor dings and scratches. The later-added peep sight shows an artificial silvery-grey patina and new retention screws. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
