Fine Special Order Winchester Deluxe Model 1886 Lever Action .45-70
   rifle is fitted with a dovetail beaded blade front sight, a three leaf
rear sight and a folding tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two-line New Haven address ahead of the rear sight and “45-70” at the breech. The lower tang has
the two-line patent dates marking as well as the serial number. The frame has the desirable casehardened finish. The forend cap, hammer and lever are also casehardened. The special order part
octagon barrel, full length magazine tube and shotgun buttplate are blued. The loading gate is niter blue. The checkered forearm and pistol grip stock are deluxe walnut. The buttstock has an ebony grip insert and an iron shotgun buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked “371
XXS.” The assembly number “371” is repeated on the stock inlet and buttplate. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 80% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The bolt retains 85% original blue finish. The
buttplate retains strong traces of original blue finish. The loading gate retains strong traces of original niter blue. The frame retains 30% original case colors. The remaining surfaces retain mostly silvered out original case colors. The wood is fine with a number of minor dings and scratches and some blemishes visible in the overall crisp checkering. LOT 5 Desirable Antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 W.C.F. - Serial no. 71075, 44 WCF cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1897 with standard markings. Fitted with pinned blade front and folding ladder rear sights, and a saddle ring fitted the left of the receiver. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 70% plus of the original blue finish, 60% of the original case colors, and 40% of the original niter blue with the balance having thinned mostly to a smooth brown or grey patina with an overcoat of protective varnish. The wood is also very fine with a few scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,500 - 7,000

Winchester Model 1895 Lever Action NRA Musket - Serial no. 401332, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1921. These N.R.A. muskets were made to comply with the specifications of the National Rifle Association of America’s “any military arm” matches with special 24 inch barrels, Krag style rear sights, and special flat buttplates. This example has standard markings including a Winchester factory oval proof on the receiver ring above “.30/GOV./’06” caliber marking. The musket also features a pinned blade front sight, a folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,800 years, bayonet lug on the underside of the barrel band, and a musket stock with finger grooved forearm. With a leather sling. CONDITION: Fine, retaining 60% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The wood is also fine with a divot on the forearm and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The George Moller Collection. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500

Documented Special Order Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle with Scarce Extra Length 32 Inch Barrel and Factory Letter - Serial no. 51236, 40-60 WCF cal., 32 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1885 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. The top flat of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/King’s patent markings and caliber marking at the breech. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the serial number is on the lower tang. The special order, extra length, 32 inch barrel is fitted with German silver blade front and folding ladder rear sights. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate which contains an included five-piece cleaning rod. The included factory letter lists the rifle in .40-60 caliber with a 24 inch octagon barrel and plain trigger when received at the warehouse on 17 December 1885, the letter then states “Returned to Russell December 22, 1886 - Octagon barrel, 32 inches, plain trigger”, and shipment from the warehouse on 23 December 1886 to order number 13718. It appears this is an example of Winchester using standard warehouse stock to fulfill special orders. CONDITION: Good, showing mostly a smooth brown patina, some areas along the barrel a brighter grey patina, and some scattered patches of light pitting. The upper tang screw is broken in half but both pieces are present. The wood is also good with minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and a stabilized crack in the right of the forearm. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 3,500
