Documented Antique Special Order Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in

ATF Exempted Sheriff’s Department Marked Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Trapper’s Carbine with 15 Inch Barrel
and Buffalo Bill Historical Center Letter - Serial no. 973001, 30 WCF cal., 15 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in
1925, this carbine is listed by serial number by the BATFE as exempt from the National Firearms Act and classified as a “curio or relic” in the “Curios or Relics List”. It has standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. Fitted with pinned blade front and folding ladder rear sights. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The left side of the stock is stamped “-SHERIFF’S DEPT-/- BERRIEN-COUNTY-/-MICH-”. The included Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter states that the carbine has not been altered. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% plus original blue overall concentrated primarily on the barrel and magazine with the balance being a mottled grey-brown patina. The wood is very good with some light dings and scratches scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Doug Ellison Collection. Estimate: 5,500 - 7,500
Desirable .45-70 W.C.F. with Buffalo Bill Historical Center Letter - Serial no. 113925, 45-70 WCF cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1897 with standard two-line barrel address and caliber marking at the breech. The upper tang has the model designation and the lower tang is marked with the two-line patent dates and serial number. It is fitted with a Lyman beaded blade front sight and folding ladder/notch rear sight, as well as a special order half magazine. The left side of the lower tang is marked “140R” and the inlet of the replacement stock is marked “236” and may have been replaced when the rifle was returned to the factory in 1905. Sling swivel studs are mounted on the forearm cap and stock. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a special order, checkered, hard rubber, shotgun buttplate. The included Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter lists the rifle in .45-70 caliber with a 24 inch round barrel, plain trigger, half magazine, shotgun butt with rubber buttplate, and screw eyes when received at the warehouse 1 October, shipped the same day, and subsequently repaired and returned 29 September 1905. CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the original blue finish on the barrel and 50% of the original case colors with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey or silvery-grey patina and a few scattered very light patches of surface pitting. The replacement wood is fine having been lightly sanded and re-oiled with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout, and a series of patches of flaking on the forearm. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
LOT 15 Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Carbine - Serial no. 801441, 25-20 WCF cal., 20 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1915. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent date, “25-
20 W.C.F.” at the breech and the Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked “MODEL
92/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S.PAT.OFF&FGN.” The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Pinned blade front sight and King buck horn rear sight. Full length magazine and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip rifle style stock with a steel crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine. The carbine retains 80% original blue finish with a few minor dings and scratches on the barrel and magazine tube, some areas of gray patina on the receiver, as well as some very light spotting. The buttplate retains 85% original blue finish with some minor oxidation. The wood is fine with a couple of small divots on the left front of the forearm and overall some scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
