Very Attractive Pair of Engraved and Raised Relief Carved Flintlock Horse Pistols
-A) Flintlock Horse Pistol - NSN, 64 cal., 12 3/4 inch
round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. These mid-18th century Continental European pistols are
unmarked but feature beautiful coordinating engraving and raised relief carving consisting of mainly floral scroll patterns along with various mask designs inhabiting the patterns on the metal and some geometric accents and borders. The side plates in particular are very attractive and are a heavily pierced design with disgorging masks. The first pistol has “VI” on the bottom right of the barrel, inside the lock mortise, and on the
inside of the lock below the mainspring. The second pistol has “VII” on the lock and inside the lock mortise, and an unidentified mark on the bottom right of the barrel at the breech (sort of like a heart with trefoil top).
CONDITION: Fine with mottled gray patina, minor oxidation, crisp designs, and mild wear. The stock is also fine and has crisp carving, scattered small dings and scratches, and thin repairs along the pommel tendril on the right. Mechanically fine.
B) Flintlock Horse Pistol - NSN, 64 cal., 12 3/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Fine with mottled gray patina, distinct designs throughout, minor oxidation, and light overall wear. The stock is also fine with some nice figure, crisp carving, scattered minor dings ands scratches, and light edge wear. Mechanically fine.

Gorgeous Pair of Silver Mounted European Flintlock Holster Pistols with Relief Carved
Stocks -A) Flintlock Holster Pistol - NSN, 60 cal.,
13 1/4 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. These c. mid 18th century pistols from Continental Europe have silver
furniture, including elaborate pierced side plates with scrolling designs and masks and wrist escutcheons with coronets and bestial supporters. The pommels have quatrefoil floral designs and lion masks and “B” and “A” hallmarks. The barrels also have
silver front sights on long sighting ribs and silver inlaid ovals engraved with a classical soldier design. The locks similarly have beautiful relief engraved designs of classical figures seated amongst martial trophies. The stocks have relief carved scroll
patterns and horn forend caps.
CONDITION: Fine with silver-gray patina on the lock and barrel, some light pitting, deep natural aged patina on the silver furniture, and mild overall wear. The stock is also fine and has distinct carving, mild edge wear, a couple of faint cracks by the toe, and light scratches, and dings. Mechanically fine. B) Flintlock Holster Pistol - NSN, 60 cal., 13 1/4 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Fine with silver-gray patina and slight pitting on the lock and barrel, attractive natural aged patina on the silver, some faint repairs, and mild wear. The stock is very good as restored with discreet repaired cracks and slivers, distinct carving, and scattered light
dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
