 LOT 414 Steyr Model 1903 Bolt Action Takedown Rifle with Case and Knife - Serial no. B4440, 6.5 mm Mannlicher cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Ramped, beaded blade front and five leaf (one standing, four folding) rear sight with level graduated out to 500 yards on the blued barrel which shows standard Austrian proofs along with period London proof marks. The blued action bares the model marking as well as the 1905 date of manufacture. The rifle features a folding peep sight on the bolt with another on the upper tang, double set triggers, and takedown capability with the removal of a single screw. Nicely flame figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with steel trapdoor grip cap, blank inscription oval, and checkered steel buttplate. Includes a canvas bound George Gibbs labelled takedown case with eaning tools, leather sling, and turn screws. The case also contains a bone handled knife that is marked “A. H. Edland 1907” on the pommel with horn and silver scabbard which is marked with the same name and date. ONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with light handling evidence on he metal. The wood is very good with some scratches and pressure dent and worn but well- defined checkering. The case is good with moderate storage wear. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

Antique Engraved Harris Holland .360 Bore Hammer Double Rifle with Case - Serial no. 2607, 360 cal., 25 3/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1873 per the chart on page 117 of Nigel Brown’s “British Gunmaker’s: Volume One - London”. Blade front and three leaf (one standing, two folding) rear sights on the smooth solid rib which is marked “H. HOLLAND 98. NEW BOND ST. LONDON.” The casehardened hammer action features attractive floral scroll engraving, double triggers, and an underlever barrel release. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and wedge fastener and straight grip stock
with blank inscription oval and casehardened steel buttplate. With brown leather wrapped takedown case. The length of pull is 14 inches. The weight is 5 lbs 7 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as refurbished, retaining 98% blue and casehardened finishes, some pitting beneath the forend, and light handling evidence. The wood is also very fine, showing a few minor marks, wear at the buttplate, and sharp checkering. The case is good with non-functioning latch. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 3,500 LOT 416 Fine Engraved Holland & Holland .295 (Rook) Single Barrel Toplever Hammerless Rook Rifle with Case - Serial no. 13960, 295 cal., 26 inch bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This classic Holland & Holland rook rifle continued to be marketed as “The Ross” in this grade of finish although it differed in design to its forebearer. Although marked as .295 calibre, this cartridge is one and the same as the .300 rook rifle cartridge. The main ammunition manufacturers in England at the time were Eley who head-stamped their version as “295” and Kynoch who head-stamped theirs as “300”. With blued octagonal barrel respectively signed “HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND ST. LONDON” and “WINNERS OF ALL THE ‘FIELD’ RIFLE TRIALS. 295 SEMI SMOOTH BORE” on each side of the full length matted top flat towards the breech end, fitted with blued bead front sight and blued rear sight of one standing notch sight and two folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line and graduated to 150 yards, and with non-selective ejector. Casehardened action with blued removable firing pin bushing, blued automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”, blued toplever, blued floorplate and blued trigger guard. The whole with classic English border and scroll engraving. The underside of the barrels and water table struck with London single definitive proof mark. Well figured 14 1/2 inch walnut semi-pistol grip stock with blued butt plate and casehardened pistol grip cap, and checkered grip and forearm, the latter with dark horn cap. In leather fitted case lined in burgundy baize, the lid with large printed Holland & Holland trade label. CONDITION: In fine condition. The barrel retains nearly all of the reblued finish with clear engraved details. Action retaining 85% original casehardened finish, trigger guard, toplever and floorplate with nearly all of the reblued finish. Engraving clear throughout. Stock reoiled, with attractive figure pattern, well defined checkering, occasional scattered age related minor storage and handling marks and bruises. Mechanically excellent. Case in very good condition, has been relined, label clear but age stained, exterior straps replaced. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000 LOT 417 Engraved W.P. Jones .297/.250 (Rook) Single Barrel Toplever Hammerless Rook Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 15747, 297-250 cal., 27 inch bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. This classic British rook rifle is fitted with a vintage Dr. Wohler SAAR 2 1/2x telescopic sight. With blued octagonal barrel respectively signed “W.P. JONES. MAKER.” and “25. WHITTALL ST. BIRMINGHAM” towards the breech, with matted top flat, bead front sight and blued rear sight of one standing notch sight and two folding leaves each with inlaid center line and graduated to 150 yards, and with non-selective ejector. Casehardened action with blued automatic safety and blued toplever. The whole with classic English border and scroll engraving. The underside of the barrels and water table struck with Birmingham single definitive proof mark. Figured 13 3/4 inch walnut semi-pistol grip stock with grooved butt, checkered grip and forearm, the latter with dark horn cap, and dark horn pistol grip cap. CONDITION: In fine condition. The barrel retains 90% blued finish with clear engraved details, some minor muzzle rub to finish with some corrosion marking towards the muzzle. Action retains 50% faded original casehardened finish, trigger guard with traces of original blued finish restricted to the inner surface. Engraving clear throughout. Stock with well defined checkering, numerous scattered age related storage and handling marks including initials and the caliber designation marked on the right side of the stock and bruises.
