Factory Game Scene Engraved Gebruder Merkel 28 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 66060, 28 gauge, 28 1/2 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1967. Dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard Merkel markings, choke constrictions of .038/.038 (full/full), and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished boxlock action features floral scroll engraving surrounding a trio of mallards on the right and a dog
flushing birds on the left. The gun features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered three
piece forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release and pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, white line grip cap, inscription oval marked “WD”, and rubber recoil pad. Includes a canvas bound takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/16 inch drop at heel; 13 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue and coin finishes, minor handling evidence, and some slight wear at the muzzle. Blued, Bohler Stahl barrels with single white bead sight on the matted vent rib, standard Merkel markings, chambers measured at 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors, and choke constrictions measured .010/.024 inches (modified/full). The casehardened bolstered boxlock action displays light floral scroll engraving and features double triggers and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered three-piece forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release and straight grip stock serrated hard rubber buttplate and whiteline spacer. Stock measurements: 1 1/4 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 4 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% original blue, 70% original case colors, and minor handling evidence. The wood is excellent with a few minor marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Blued Krupp-Laufstahl barrels with single white bead sight on the matted solid rib, light scroll engraving at the breech, and 2 1/2 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The casehardened, bolstered sidelock action with double Kersten
cross bolts shows floral scroll engraving with line borders. The gun features double triggers, horn triggerguard, and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Lightly figured, multi- point checkered forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley style release latch and pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap, cheekpiece, and ventilated rubber recoil pad.
Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs 1 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% original blue on the barrels, 90% original case colors on the action with some muting, and light handling evidence. The wood is very good with scattered light dings and
scratches, small crack in the triggerguard, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
