   Cased Pair of Factory Engraved J. P. Sauer & Sohn Boxlock Double Barrel Shotguns -A) J. P. Sauer & Sohn Boxlock Shotgun - Serial no. 214974, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued Krupp Special Gewehr Laufstahl barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted, concave
solid rib which is marked “J. P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL.”, bands
of engraving around either breech, and 2 1/2 inch chambers with single extractor. The casehardened scalloped, sideclipped boxlock action displays floral scroll engraving surrounding “J. P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL” on either side. The gun features double triggers and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, horn tip inlay, and Deeley style release and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, blank inscription oval, and hard rubber buttplate. The “B” gun in this lot is only five numbers off of this
gun. Includes cleaning tools, four snap caps, two nickel oilers, two leather forend guards, and a canvas bound two gun takedown case that houses the whole set.
Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .726/.726 inches; choke constriction .038/.052 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.031
inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 13 oz.
CONDITION: Very good, retaining 80% original blue finish on the barrels with 40% original blue finish on the triggerguard, mostly silvered patina on the action with some case colors in the protected
areas, scattered minor spotting, and mild handling evidence. The wood is also very good with some finish filler at the pistol grip, numerous handling dings, some wear on the buttplate and toe, and crisp

CONDITION: Very good, retaining 80% original blue finish on the barrels with strong traces on the triggerguard, mostly silvered patina on the action with some case colors in the protected areas, some discoloration on the action, and mild handling evidence. The wood is also very good with numerous scattered dings and scratches, some chipping and finish filler along the forend, and crisp checkering and dipping on the horn buttplate.
Mechanically excellent.

Factory Game Scene Engraved Gebruder Merkel 20 Gauge Model 147S Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 725957, 20 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued Special-Gewehrlaufstahl barrels with single white
bead front sight on the matted, concave solid rib, Champlin Firearms marking on right barrel, standard East German proofs, “1274” (December, 1974) proof date, and 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays scrollwork surrounding a German pointer flushing a
covey of game birds on the left and a raptor descending on a trio of mallards on the right. The gun features a single trigger and manual tang mounted triggerguard. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with
engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release and straight grip stock with blank inscription oval and checkered
buttplate. Includes correspondence between original purchaser and Champlin Firearms discussing the purchase of the gun. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .629/.628 inches; choke constriction .005/.024 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.035 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/4 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs 7 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refinished by Champlin Arms, retaining 98% blue and coin finishes, light handling evidence, oil staining on the flats and watertable, and minor oil marking on the action and locks. The stock has a chip at the toe, otherwise the wood is very fine with minor scratches and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

Blued Krupp Fluid Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted, concave solid rib, standard markings, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and choke constrictions of .006/.019 inches. The casehardened boxlock action displays light floral scroll engraving, “J. P. SAUER & SON.” on either side, double triggers, and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release and round
knob pistol grip stock with Sauer buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs 11 oz. CONDITION: Very good, retaining 95% original blue finish on the barrels with widespread spotting with concentration under the forend, 70% original case colors, and grey patina on the triggerguard. The
wood is excellent with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,200 - 1,800
