64 Winchester Model 70
“African Model” Super Grade Bolt Action
Rifle in .458 Winchester Magnum with Box - Serial no.
   520589, 458 Win Mag cal., 25 inch round bbl., blue finish, checkered walnut stock. This is very rare special order “Super Grade” 458 Win Magnum “African Model” bolt action rifle as manufactured in 1961. The Super Grade model 70s were only produced through 1959/60 when production was stopped with the 458 Magnum African Model only produced between 1956 and 1963, all on a special order basis. In total only 1,226 African Model rifles were ever produced. Hooded ramp front sight and adjustable Winchester “African” express rear sight made only for the 458 Magnum caliber “African” rifles. The top of the receiver is factory drilled for sight/scope mounting. Polished bolt and follower (bolt hand numbered to match), standard markings including the Winchester oval proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech and “-SUPER GRADE-” on the floor plate. Mounted with a one-piece walnut Monte Carlo stock with multi-point checkering, ebony forend, metal grip cap, cheek piece, and Winchester red rubber recoil pad. Includes original box and hang tag listing the rifle as an “African” model. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish with limited handling evidence. The wood is also excellent with on a few minor marks and sharp checkering. The box is very good with moderate storage wear. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500

.375 Magnum - Serial no. 10430, 375 Magnum cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1937. Hooded
ramp front sight, a filler block in the rear sight dovetail, and a receiver mounted Lyman peep sight. Standard barrel markings with the early style caliber
marking “375 MAGNUM”, Winchester “WP” proofs on the medium barrel and receiver at the breech, factory drilled and tapped cloverleaf tang receiver with filler screws installed, matching numbered bolt, and floor plate marked “-SUPER GRADE-”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip, sling swivels, and Winchester red rubber recoil pad. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% original blue finish with some minor oxidation on the floorplate and minor handling evidence. The stock is very fine as refurbished with a few scratches and sharp recut/added checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

floor plate marked “-SUPER GRADE-”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip, sling swivels, and checkered blue steel buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with most of the loss on the floorplate and bottom metal and minor handling evidence. The refinished wood is also very fine with a few minor marks and sharp recut/added checkering. Mechanically excellent. Manufactured in 1946. Integral ramped hooded beaded blade front and single folding leaf rear notch sight, highly desirable medium weight barrel with standard markings, Winchester “WP” proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, factory drilled cloverleaf tang receiver, and polished bolt numbered to the gun. Multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with sling swivels and solid rubber Winchester recoil pad. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with minor handling evidence. The stock is very fine with a few scattered dings and scratches and sharp checkering. The buttpad is slightly compressed. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
