Factory Master Engraved Gaston Vandersmissen Signed Belgian
Browning Pointer Grade Superposed Skeet Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 29706S4,
12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/grey finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1964. Single
steel bead sight on the matte vent rib, standard markings on the barrels, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic
ejectors, and chokes marked “**$”/”**$” (skeet/skeet). The grey action is engraved in the Pointer Grade pattern with
flowing scroll designs surrounding a pointer and pheasant on the right, a pointer and mallard on the left, a pair of quail on the underside, and a pair of pheasants on the trigger guard. Both sides of the receiver are signed “VANDERSMISSENG” beneath the scenes
for Factory Master Engraver Gaston Vandersmissen. Single gold washed trigger and tang mounted safety/selector switch with gold inlaid “S”, “O”,
and “U”. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forearm with engraved fittings and round knob pistol grip stock with dual white line spacers and ventilated rubber recoil pad. Includes correct Browning Naugahyde takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter 9 inches from breech .725/.724 inches; choke constriction
.007/007 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.031 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 13 7/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 15 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue and grey finishes, some minor varnish staining on the metal, and limited handling evidence. The wood is very fine with scattered tiny scratches and sharp checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.

Engraved Claude Baerten Signed Belgian Browning “C” Grade Exhibition
Superposed Skeet Shotgun - Serial no. C147, 12 gauge, 26 1/2 inch vent rib bbl.,
blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard Browning barrel
markings, chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors, and chokes marked “**$”/”**$” (skeet/skeet).
The coin finished action features deep floral scroll engraving over a matted background extending onto the top lever, tangs, triggerguard,
and safety surrounding game scenes on either side. The right displays a trio of pheasant in flight over an upland scene, and the left shows a trio
of mallards in flight over a marsh. The left side is signed “C.BAERTEN” for FN Factory Master Engraver Claude Baerten at the bottom of the scene. Beautifully
figured, exhibition quality, multi-point checkered target style forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with ventilated Browning rubber recoil pad. According to the information on page 292 of “The Browning Superposed: John M. Browning’s Last Legacy” by Ned Schwing only 256 “C” Grade exhibition guns were manufactured,
133 of which were twelve gauge. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter 9 inches from the breech .723/.723 inches; choke constriction .003/.003 inches; minimum wall thickness .041/.035 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 5/8 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 11 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, some minor areas showing light oil staining on the action, and minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a slight crack in the varnish, a few tiny marks, varnish wear at the recoil pad, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
