Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter and Box - Serial
no. 691, 357 magnum cal., 6 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, checkered walnut grips. The Colt Python was designed by Colt to be the top of the line model in Colt revolvers. Originally designed to be a target revolver
in .38 special, these revolvers gained wide
recognition in most gun circles due to the use of all hand fit parts allowing for a supremely accurate and robust revolver.
    SERIAL NUMBER 691
      Almost immediately, the Colt Python found popularity with the likes of competition shooters and law enforcement. The included factory letter lists this revolver as having a 6 inch barrel chambered in .357 magnum with a royal blue finish and stocks not listed when shipped
to Badger Shooters Supply in Owen, Wisconsin on January 27, 1956. Includes a matching number Colt two-piece “woodgrain” box, warranty card, and “Handling the
Handgun” pamphlet.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue with limited handling marks, a faint cylinder drag line, and crisp grip checkering on the excellent grips. Mechanically excellent. Box is very good with storage and handling marks and repaired corners. Estimate: 8,500 - 13,000

Action Revolver with Factory
Letter - Serial no. 543, 357 magnum cal., 6 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in early 1956, the second year of production for the Colt Python revolver. These
revolvers have come to symbolize the pinnacle of Colt’s masterfully crafted and tuned revolvers as well as being the
last in a long line of truly hand-fitted double actions. Many firearms enthusiasts and writers have described the Colt
Python as “the finest production revolver ever made”. It is fitted with a ramped blade front sight mounted on the matted vent rib and a frame mounted adjustable notch rear sight, grooved trigger, checkered hammer, and a pair of checkered grips with gold Colt medallions. Matching serial number “543” is on the yoke and crane, with “VP”
and “J” on the left near the trigger guard. The included factory letter confirms the current
configuration, including the desirable early “Royal Blue” finish (grips not listed), as well as
shipment to Flaig’s in Millvale, Pennsylvania on 16 January 1956.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% of the original high polish blue finish with a few
scattered very light handling marks and a light cylinder drag line. The grips are also
excellent with only the slightest handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically
excellent. An excellent, early production, three digit serial number Colt Python revolver
that would be difficult to improve upon!
