Cased Pair of Durs Egg Back Action Damascus Barrel Percussion Belt Pistols -A) Durs Egg - NSN, 56 cal., 5 inch part round bbl., brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in London, likely around the 1820’s. Egg (1748-1831) immigrated to England after apprenticing in Solothurn and Paris. He first established his shop in London in 1772. He made guns owned by King George IV, Napoleon, and other leading men of the day and also manufactured firearms for the British Army and Royal Navy. This pair are fitted with bead and notch sights on the which has sculpted flats near the breech, the top of which is marked with the Egg Pall Mall address. The back action locks are engraved with light floral scroll and each marked “D. Egg” with sculpted fences and platinum plugs and bands on the breech. The stocks are walnut with checkered grip areas, silver wedge escutcheons, and horn forend tips. The ramrods have retention swivels and the trigger guards also have light floral engraving. They are both housed in a fitted hardwood case with blank brass escutcheon on the lid with carry handle and a Durs Egg trade label inside. Also included is a leather wrapped brass powder flask and some balls. CONDITION: Very good, retains most of the vibrant period refurbished browned Damascus patterns on the barrel, faint case colors on the lock and breech, and 30% original blue on the remainder with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina. The stock is fine with a few scattered light dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. B) Durs Egg Percussion Pistol - NSN, 56 cal., 5 inch part round bbl., brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock. See “A”. CONDITION: Fine, retains most of the vibrant period refurbished browned Damascus patterns on the barrel, faint case colors on the lock and breech, and 75% of the original blue on the remainder, with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The stock is also fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some minor staining, minor handling/storage evidence, and a few splitting seams. The fine flask shows mild wear on the leather cover and an attractive antique brass patina. Pair of Silver Mounted and Engraved Wilson Queen Anne Screw Barrel Flintlock Pistols -A) Wilson Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 60 cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This pair of Queen Anne style pistols was manufactured around the mid-1700’s by Richard Wilson (1703-1766) of London, who became a Master Gunmaker in 1741. Wilson was a Contractor to Ordnance as well as to the East India, Hudson’s Bay, and Royal African companies. This pair of pistols have flourishes of light floral scroll and border engraving throughout and are marked “Wilson” on the lower right along with two proofs and Wilson’s “star/ RW” mark. They are marked “LONDON” on top of the breeches and fitted with screw off cannon barrels with multiple wedding bands and wrench lugs on the lower right. The grips are each mounted with silver in the form of a panoply of arms on the left, grotesque masks on the pommels, and ornate escutcheons on top that are engraved with horse heads over a crescent over “R-B”. CONDITION: Good, showing mostly a once cleaned bright artificial grey patina with traces of the original blue finish in sheltered areas, attractive antique patina on the silver, and some of the engraving slightly softened. The refinished wood is also good with a couple minor chips near the pommel, some scattered minor dings and scratches, and some slightly softened edges. Mechanically excellent. B) Wilson Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 60 cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. See “A”. CONDITION: Good, showing mostly a bright once cleaned artificial grey patina, attractive antique patina on the silver, and mostly well- defined markings/engraving. The refinished wood is also good showing a faint sizable repair on the right, some slightly softened edges, and otherwise scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
