plaque and steel buttplate. The length of pull is 14 3/16 inches. The rifle weighs 13 lbs. 5 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as refurbished, showing 80% of the brown finish on the barrels, 80% case colors on the action, the trigger guard has a mostly dark
patina with some areas of light spotting. The wood is very good with a few dings and scratches, a crack from the left lock to the top tang, and a small crack and a chip at the front of the stock, some wear around the buttplate, moderate pitting on the buttplate, and worn but well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,500 - 7,000

- Serial no. 23, 8 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., brown/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Brown Damascus barrels with single bead sight on the matted solid rib, marked “J. P. CLABROUGH & BROS, MAKERS” and “LONDON & BIRMINGHAM” on the right and left respectively, Birmingham proofs, and 3 1/2 inch chambers with single extractor. The casehardened locks and action display scroll engraving with a pair of game birds at the back of either lock plate. The gun features double triggers and rebounding hammers. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, Deeley latch release, and horn tip inlay and round knob pistol grip stock with blank inscription
shield and hard rubber Clabrough buttplate. Stock measurements: 2 inch drop at comb; 3 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 12 lbs.
CONDITION: Fine overall, showing 80% of the period of use rebrowned finish on the barrels with 85% original case colors, mild handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
