Master Giuseppe Zacchi Signed and Engraved Piotti Monaco 2 Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 8036, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1998. Blued steel chopper lump barrels with single bead sight on the matted solid rib, gold inlaid “FLLI PIOTTI” on the left barrel, standard Italian proofs, and chambers marked 70 mm (2 3/4 inches) with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays beautifully executed English style rose and scroll engraving, gold inlaid “FLLI PIOTTI” on either lockplate, deeply chiseled fences, and a golden coronet inlaid into the toplever. The engraving extends onto the upper and lower tangs as well as the triggerguard. The triggerplate is signed “INC ZACCHI” for Italian Master Engraver Giuseppe Zacchi. The gun features bushed firing pins, single non- selective trigger, and tang mounted manual safety switch. Highly figured, exhibition quality, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, Anson button release button, and gold inlaid Piotti crest. The straight grip stock is of the same exceptional quality with the same checkering pattern and a checkered bare butt. Includes a leather bound takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved and measured at 18.5 mm (.728 inches); choke constriction .023/.042 inches; minimum wall thickness .028/.027 inches; 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, some minor oil marks beneath the triggerguard, and a vertical scratch on the left lockplate, otherwise minor handling evidence. The wood is also excellent with a few minor scratches and sharp checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 12,000 - 18,000
